What I’ve been doing
#

This week has been a 4-day working week for me, as I do compressed-hours 9-day fortnights. Although many people seem to be enjoying well-earned summer breaks, the pace at work doesn’t seem to slow.

Friday off allowed for a change in that pace, and my partner and I were able to spend time with our grandson, also off on school summer holidays. I am acutely aware that these days are precious and will pass in a flash if you don’t stop to enjoy them. Ferris Bueller had the right idea. So a day out was in order, but there was also a rite of passage to carry out. In our loft, my Star Wars figure collection, complete in a Darth Vader head storage case, was collecting dust. Collected by me (or my parents, more accurately) mainly in the early 80s and played with by my now grown-up son, it was time for it to be brought out again and played with. It still has its magic and was a winner with a 5-year-old. And me.

The weekend also meant Parkrun in Porthcawl, and I made another PB, breaking the 26-minute mark. Also on the sports front, two rounds of golf at Wenvoe Castle Golf Club. I’m not quite as successful there as at Parkrun, but I’m working on it.
